MTL Group Ltd look to inspire Rotherham’s next generation of engineers

As part of the Global Manufacturing Festival that is taking place this week, MTL Group Ltd have been looking to inspire Rotherham’s next generation of engineers as students from Wingfield Business & Enterprise College near Greasborough, toured the companies new facility. 

MTL Group has recently opened its new 300,000 sq ft factory in a move the contract manufacturer said will create more than 100 jobs. The relocation was supported by a £5m funding package from Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets in Sheffield. MTL said its relocation to the Rotherham facility follows several years of growth that has led to the company’s turnover rise to £50m.

Managing director Dr Henry Shirman said: “We are proud of our roots here in Yorkshire and proud of our business. Our reputation for quality & service has underpinned our expansion as we grew from one factory to four factories in different locations. The opening of this state-of-the-art facility means we are all able to work on one site and we have provision for future growth and expansion.

MTL Group is a contract manufacturing specialist that currently serve a range of industries, including; renewable energy, offshore oil & gas, construction, quarrying, rail and recycling, and they are an approved supplier to a range of customers including BAE Systems, Bombardier Transportation, Caterpillar, Rheinmetall and Sandvik.
