Technology company S3 ID has won the prestigious Grand Prix at Insider's Yorkshire International Trade Awards 2012.

The Rotherham business fought off strong competition from across the region in the evening's main category, having also been presented with the SME Manufacturing Award.

The judges stated that S3 ID was an example that all SME's in Yorkshire could look to for inspiration.  With an annual growth rate of more than 140 per cent, the business has spread across the world providing safety location systems from the North Sea to Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. It has now established a presence in most of the major oil rich regions around the world and is looking to consolidate this by increasing its customer base in each region.

The evening, which was staged at the Royal Armouries in Leeds and attracted 200 leading business people and professionals, was a celebration of Yorkshire's export successes.

South Yorkshire-based seals manufacturer AES Seal were also winners and were honoured with the 'Large Manufacturing Award'. The company was seen to have phenomenal growth in its export business and the judges said this was a "hi-tech product and a fantastic business". They also praised its "extra-curricular" work with schools, calling it a "true Yorkshire success story".

Furthermore, Tata Steel were successful in achieving the 'Growth Via International Trade' award.
