Sheffield City Region Enterprise Zone The SCR Enterprise Zone combines tax breaks, reduced planning restrictions and super-fast broadband. The Modern Manufacturing and Technology Growth Area (MMTGA) will be made up of several key sites linked by the M1 corridor. The SCR enterprise zone offers a business discount rate worth up to £275,000 over five years for firms that move into the area over the course of this parliament and the chancellor has said that he will consider enhancing capital allowances for plant and machinery in the zone. Dearne Valley Enterprise Zone (No longer active) The Dearne Valley was designated an Enterprise Zone in November 1995. It gave financial incentives for inward investors, including exemption from National Non Domestic Business Rates and 100 per cent capital allowances for tax purposes on eligible expenditure for the period of the Enterprise Zone. The Zone also offered a simplified planning regime. It was highly successful, with over 18,000 jobs being created in the area during 2000 - 2007.
